Stopping Termites From Eating Your Connecticut Home

Termites are small pests that are rarely seen, but pack a punch, nonetheless. Their penchant for cellulose means they'll eat through the wooden structures in your Connecticut home while you remain unaware of their presence. If left unattended for too long, termites can damage your home's structural integrity, making it an unsafe place to stay.

The good news about termites is that whether you have an active infestation in your house, or want to stop them from getting inside before they have a chance to do any damage, Rescue 1 Pest & Termite Control provides services to eliminate termites and protect your home. These services are available for previously built homes, as well as new construction.

Inspection

An inspection is an important first step in the termite control process. Although we offer protection for your home, whether you have an active infestation or not, knowing whether termites are already present is important in providing you with the thorough treatment you need to eliminate an active infestation as fast as possible.

We'll inspect both the interior and exterior of your home, looking for any signs of termite activity and damage. Signs of a termite infestation include finding mud tunnels on your foundation walls, seeing small holes in wood and small piles of a sawdust-like material below them, and finding beams that sound hollow when you knock on them.

Treatment

At Rescue 1 Pest & Termite Control, we use termite baiting systems to eliminate termite colonies entirely. Bait stations are installed in the soil around the exterior of your house every 15 feet. When termites use these stations, they take the bait themselves and bring it back to other members of the colony; they also leave a pheromone trail so that other termites can find the station. Eventually, the bait works its way through the entire colony, eliminating it in its entirety.

If necessary, after installing the bait stations, we'll also use a liquid product to spot treat the wooden structures in your home.

Follow-Up

Our termite control service includes a follow-up visit approximately six months after the installation of the termite baiting system. This visit allows us to check the bait levels and make sure the system is working properly.

Warranty

Our termite baiting system includes a one-year warranty. This warranty is renewable every year.

Pre-Construction Treatments

If you haven't built your house yet, but are getting ready to, you may want to consider protecting it from termites before they ever have a chance to get inside. We perform our pre-construction treatments after the foundation is dug, but before the slab is poured. We'll treat the soil with a liquid treatment to eliminate any termite colonies nearby. This treatment includes a five-year warranty that is transferable in the event that you sell your home before it is complete.

Wood-Destroying Insect Reports

If you are in the process of buying a previously built home, you'd be wise to make sure termites haven't damaged it before you complete the sale. Some lenders even require that this information be determined before they'll approve your loan. Rescue 1 Pest & Termite Control provides the inspection and the written Wood-Destroying Insect Report.
